Savremena鈥檚 Latin Olympiad, a competition which marked the final weeks of this school year, has proven that Savremena鈥檚 students are eager students of Latin. The students got the chance to test their grammar skills and vocabulary, but also to show how much they know about the elements of the cultures and civilisations where Latin was used.
By answering questions from various fields, the students displayed their knowledge not only in Latin, but also in history, maths, art, English and other sciences.
Modern technologies in interdisciplinary lessons
Encouraged by the motto Citior, altior, fortior, Savremena鈥檚 students tackled every creative challenge set before them by their Latin teacher Natalija Stankovi膰.
Divided into teams symbolically named after well-known Roman deities – Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, Diana, Minerva and Venus – the students showcased their skills using the applications:,,,,, and on their iPads. Savremena鈥檚 students analysed the story of Pandora鈥檚 box and travelled through time, from the founding of Rome, all the way to its last king.
The interconnection of English, Latin, and Serbian skills allows Savremena鈥檚 students to revive Latin and level it with present-day languages. This interdisciplinary lesson, which erased the boundaries between Latin and English, and history and art, provided the students with knowledge from different fields of study.
Creative lessons for more efficient learning
Students at Savremena eagerly await opportunities to try their luck in games in which they can show their knowledge and mental agility. Active learning enables efficient learning, and, thanks to creative and interdisciplinary lessons, students enjoy acquiring new knowledge and eagerly participate in competitions such as Savremena鈥檚 Latin Olympiad.
