When we learn an important lesson in life, what is the next step? Passing that knowledge on to someone else so as to continuously maintain the cycle of positive change, which is exactly what International School鈥檚 students did on Monday, 7 February, when they paid a visit to students of Primary School Savremena.
Become aware, apply your knowledge, and pass it on
International School鈥檚 Eco-committee is made up of students who are already aware of how important it is to look after the environment and that ecology is an integral part of our reality. Not only is it important to be conscious of the significance of ecology, but also to demonstrate that awareness in practice 鈥 by taking care of our environment and treating everything that surrounds us with responsibility.
Apart from that, it鈥檚 equally crucial to encourage others to do the same as that is the only way to create (and expand) the circle of eco-conscious citizens and create a better world for all of us. And do you know what else is important? To instil healthy habits and attitudes in children in the early years of primary schools, the way International School and Primary School Savremena do.
Positive social change begins in the classroom
International School鈥檚 Eco-committee visited Primary School Savremena and encouraged their younger friends from Year 5 to get involved in the preservation and development of the environment. It was a great kick-start for them since the effort to make this world a better place to live begins in the classroom.
International School鈥檚 students Aleksandra Ivanovi膰, Lana Luki膰, Mia Aleksi膰, and Ivana Zoranovi膰 presented the activities of their eco-school and the importance of environmental protection to students of Primary School Savremena. The school鈥檚 project coordinator and Business teacher prepared badges for the students, which they received in personalised packages with messages encouraging them to take care of the environment.
The representatives of the Eco-committee were able to deliver this lecture owing to International School鈥檚 sharing of examples of good practice, which is why they received praise from the Foundation for Environmental Education.
